I ordered 7" Lux foam to replace the stuffing of an antique settee. The foam firmness is perfect.
It needed to be cut into a complex shape with curves in all three axes. I bought a hot-knife foam cutter for this (never done before). I managed to make this work, but it was unpleasant because copious noxious fumes are emitted, even on the lowest heat setting that would cut. Also, the cut surface turns brown and is sticky.
Admittedly the website instructions about cutting say nothing about a hot knife, recommending instead a kitchen knife, which perhaps should have been a clue. I assumed this was simply to make it appear as simple as possible to DIYers, while also avoiding the added expense. Now I suspect it is to avoid just these issues I had.
I did try knives, both straight and serrated, and couldn't wield them at all to get the curves I needed.
So, lesson learned. I've started to suspect the hot-knife cutters are for rigid foam like styrofoam, not upholstry foam. All YouTubes I could find on using them showed cutting rigid foam - perhaps that should have been another clue.
My project will still be a success, but I wanted to pass this on to the community.

I bought a third sheet of 5” foam to replace the foam in my sofa cushion. It is one long cushion and was way too soft. The new foam is perfect. It gives much more support and no longer lifts up on the ends when someone sits in the middle! Measuring and cutting were pretty easy following the instructions on the website. I also wrapped it in batting which was a bit of a chore but not really hard.

I was looking for a replacement foam for my Travel Trailer. RV's come with cheap foam that goes flat quickly. Feels like you are sitting on the plywood underneath. So I went looking for new foam and found this company. They explained the different firmness's and I saw a review of someone had done what I wanted to do and gave a good review. So I took a chance. After selecting what I thought was the next firmness up from what I had I made my selection. Shipping was fast. I ordered a large piece of Lux regular foam for an unusual reason. Our large poodle is 11 years old and has arthritis in one front leg. He can easily jump up on our bed but jumping off causes problems because of the height. I’ve cut the foam into sections to provide a landing pad in several places where he jumps including out of my SUV. It has worked great! The foam arrived very quickly and in beautiful condition.
